Erdinger

Brief History
The real history of wheat beer as we know it today only began around 500
years ago. In 1520 Ludwig X granted his official steward, Hans Sigismund of
Degenberg, the right to produce wheat beer for the whole area of the Bavarian
Forest. Although the brewing of wheat beer was prohibited in 1567, the Degenbergs
retained their brewing rights. When the line of the Degenbergs finally died out,
Duke Maximilian restored the right to brew wheat beer to himself. Although the law
of 1567 remained in force, it did not apply to reigning princes - and so he was able
to brew beer without any competition. This wheat beer monopoly was a secure and
vital source of income for the Wittelsbachers, especially since wheat beer was
becoming increasingly popular.

The ultimate premium Weissbier
Erdinger Weissbier 'with fine yeast' is not only the undisputed classic in the
Erdinger product range, it is also quite simply the wheat beer par excellence.
It is brewed using fine yeast according to a traditional recipe and, of course,
in strict accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law. Even today, the beer is still
bottle-fermented in the traditional way; it takes three to four weeks for Erdinger
Weissbier 'with fine yeast' to mature. Only the finest ingredients are used in its
production. Years of experience and constant quality checks guarantee the
beer's unmistakable flavor.

A wheat beer from the good old days
Erdinger Weissbier 'dark' is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger
Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its
production. The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its
spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort.
Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn't contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier
'with fine yeast'. Like all Erdinger wheat beers, this dark variety also acquires its
typical flavor from maturing in the bottle. Years of brewing experience coupled with
state-of-the-art technology guarantee its excellent quality.

The famous Bavarian specialty
Erdinger Weissbier 'crystal clear' is particularly welcome as a tasty
thirst-quencher for hot summer days. This specialty wheat beer gets its '
crystal clear' appearance from a particularly long filtration process, known
in the industry as "fine filtration", whereby the beer becomes completely clear.
This gives Erdinger Weissbier 'crystal clear' its sparkling and refreshing character
- which also makes it the ideal wheat beer for warm summer days.

For some people, Erdinger Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is a delicacy to
be enjoyed in the colder months of the year. For lovers of strong beer, however,
the season for Pikantus lasts a full twelve months. At 7.3% alcohol, this specialty
wheat beer has a considerably higher alcohol content than other varieties
produced by Erdinger Weissbräu. The dark bock beer owes its sharp and full flavor
to the use of selected dark wheat and barley malts and a significantly longer
maturing process. In contrast to many bock beers, Erdinger Weissbier Pikantus
'dark bock beer' does not taste too sweet. Despite its higher alcohol content,
Erdinger's master brewers have succeeded in retaining the smooth Pikantus flavor.

The Sports and Fitness Drink
Whether at work, before driving or after sports, there are certain occasions where
it is wiser to avoid alcohol. For those who don't want to miss out on the delicious
taste of wheat beer, though, the solution is Erdinger Weissbier 'non-alcoholic'. It is
brewed with the customary care and experience gained from over 110 years of
brewing tradition and in accordance with the highest quality standards. Erdinger's
master brewers have succeeded in retaining the aromatic, full-bodied Erdinger
character - even without alcohol. It is this unique flavor which has spread the
fame of Erdinger Weissbräu far beyond the borders of Germany. Erdinger
Weissbier 'non-alcoholic' thus represents a further top product in the Erdinger
range and a genuine alternative to its other specialty wheat beers.

The lifestyle wheat beer with an innovative twist
Erdinger Champ is the ideal lifestyle wheat beer: it's brewed in such a way
that it can be drunk straight from the bottle, but without compromising
Erdinger's legendary flavor and high quality standards. The 0.33-liter longneck
bottle with its unique opening mechanism emphasizes the lifestyle character of
the new beer. In addition to its twist-open cap, the innovative bottle also
features an integrated opener on the bottom for extra convenience. Simply
place one Erdinger Champ on top of another to twist open the bottom bottle.
As you can see, it's always best to order two bottles and enjoy Erdinger Champ
in company! With its fine yeast, Erdinger Champ has the character of a classic
Bavarian wheat beer. The yeast gives the beer is natural, slightly cloudy
appearance. Erdinger Champ - pure wheat beer enjoyment straight from the
bottle.

Brief History
The history of the Tucher Bräu started in the year of 1672 with the
"Freiherrlich von Tucher'schen Familie" (the family of the Barons of Tucher),
an ancient patrician family who settled in Nuremberg already in the 11th
century. In 1855, when the independent city of Nuremberg had long since
become part of the Bavarian Kingdom and Tucher was the very first Brewery
entitled to call itself "Königlich bayerisches Weizenbräuhaus" (Royal Bavarian
Brewery of Wheat Beers), a roaring success began with the purchase of just
this Brewery. The new owners introduced into their factory the steam
technology and started exporting their kegged beer beyond the Bavarian
border. The Moor's head, which since the year 1300 has been an important
part of the coat of arms of the von Tucher family, was incorporated in the
brewery's trademark. In 1898, the continuous development of technology
made it necessary to turn the brewery into a stock corporation, due to the
fact that only this way the growing need for raising funds could be met.
Indeed, at that time the beer production reached the mark of approximately
260.000 hl, which, for the time being was a considerable quantity. Tucher
beers in barrels was exported to Scandinavia, England, France, Russia, North-
and South America, Africa, India, Japan and China. Tucher beers all over the
world. With the take-over of the Brewery by the entrepreneur Dr. Hans I
nselkammer the Tucher Brewery has, since 1995 become again a private
brewery which can look down upon a tradition of brewing art of more than
325 years.
